Many manufacturers of LED lighting products praise their products as environmental friendly. Despite a lower energy consumption and the absence of heavy metals such as mercury in bulbs should nevertheless to be critically considered, because LED savings shouldn’t always be taken for granted. Saving energy by using LED’s against the traditional light bulb is possible, this is the reason that more and more international governments soon ban the sale of the traditional light bulb. With halogen lighting this is slightly more difficult even though there are good LED-replacers available today. To replace e.g. 50Watt halogen lamp with LED you will need an LED with 8..12Watt.

Replacing TL / PL-lighting is still very difficult. The development of the newest generation of T5 fluorescent lamps and bulbs has not stood still. So far it is still not possible to replace the latest generation of fluorescent lamps with LED lights, if the same light output and energy are required. The fluorescent replacements that are currently on the market have a lower light output, shorter life, or a higher power. Manufacturers that guarantee a higher light output with LED's are often compared with the older T8 fluorescent lamps. The efficiency of fluorescent lighting (number of lumens per watt) is high and it will take some time before LEDs with the same output will be available in large numbers and for a reasonable price. Most of the times the luminance is a major problem with the fluorescent replacements. E.g. bright light dots that will burn in your eyes these luminares may never be applied in general areas.

 

 

However, the use of LED lighting and lighting is very interesting, it gives the architect much more freedom in design and colour. Also, LED lighting has no problems with heating and therefore does not attract any dust. The LED can be installed seamlessly and if used RGB LED’s also change colour. TDE has developments that match the efficiency of TL / PL- lighting. In the future the efficiency of LED lighting will increase rapidly. So the application area will still be expanding. The price of LED lights will always adapt to the market, therefore result in a better light / quality ratio

The colour of LED-lighting has a continuous improvement. The colour index CRI (Color Rendering Index), is an index for the quality of the colour. Incandescent lamps have the highest colour index with a Ra value of almost 100. Standard White LED lighting have a Ra value of 70..80 depending on the LED colour and manufacturer of the LED chips. A bad colour is easily detectable on the human skin. For example lack of red in the light spectrum leaves the skin pale or greenish. TDE-lighttech has already LED products with a very good CRI with a Ra value of 92. This is spectacular to see and indispensible for Shop installations and museums
